To be able to build and keep a safe environment in hospitals and other facilities were X-ray is used, you need to know how much radiation a certain X-ray unit creates during the examinations. Only when this is known, the correct measures can be taken when it comes to the radiation protection of the room (shielding in the walls etc.).
RTI's solution is to use the small additional dose detector to perform these measurements. The scattered radiation is measured inside the room and the shielding needed is calculated. Read more about this in our application note
"1-AN-52020-6 Measurement of scattered radiation".
The same dose probes can also be used for checking the leakage around the
X-ray tube.
