The Nova, our light- and x-ray field tool, has now been on the market for a couple of months and already we see a lot great ideas of how to extend its application further than just documenting and measuring the coincidence between the x-ray and light field.
Put a dose meter and the ruler set on same level. Calculate the irradiated area by using the captured highlighted x-ray image and multiply it with dose and you have exact DAP value to compare with the DAP meter display. Very easy!
On the panoramic systems the radiation field is less than 5 mm and this is very hard to measure using conventional methods. Just tape one of the Nova rulers on to the image detector and capture the radiation field with the camera.
Nova is a great tool for understanding how the radiation output really looks like. If a Nova ruler is placed on the table, you can verify the beam width and see the irradiated area during a complete spiral scan!
Please let us know if you come up with more bright ideas!
