New CT Dose Profiler

Our second generation CT detector was released in June (the one you know as the CT Slice detector, or CT-SD16). This new version is called the CT Dose Profiler. Both the old and new probes will work with the same program, CT Dose Profile Analyzer.

Externally, the probe has been shortened to 169 mm, and this was done because many CTDI phantoms on the market are closed at one end. Since the detector must be located at the center of the phantom, this became a practical problem with the old probe. As you know, the length of the probe has no effect on the width of the radiation profile that it can measure. The measuring chip is only a quarter of a millimeter across.

The measuring chip has also been replaced, by one that has no angle dependence (in the case of the old probe, the software made a correction for this). This makes it more suitable for use in point dose measurements. Now there is no directional dependence either. With the old probe it was important that the "head" went into the radiation field first.

We have prepared documentation that, among other things, summarizes the articles that have been written about our probe, in which it is compared with TLD and ion chambers, along with the difficulties that are experienced when measuring with the CT apparatus that has a very wide field but a stationary table (Toshiba's Aquilion and Cone beam CT that is in conjunction with a linear accelerator). Contact your local representative in order to get this material.

Also, please contact you local representative if you would like to know what it would cost to upgrade your current CT-SD16 to a CT Dose Profiler.
